social-action1Welcome all, to our April Havdallah Educational and Social Evening in this year’s series:

“It is not easy being a woman in a traditionally male-dominated industry.”

  •  Topic:  Journey’s in Tikun Olam: From the Prophets to “Women Building Futures.
  • Guest speaker: A team effort with Rabbi Harari will highlight the seeds of “Tikun Olam” – repairing the world – and Ann Goldblatt and Chyrstia Chomiak co-speaker will shed light on an important local community example of social justice in action.
  • When: Saturday, April 20th 2013

  • How many women do you know who are journeymen electricians, plumbers, pipe fitters, carpenters, welders, boilermakers, sheet metal workers, or heavy equipment operators? The evening is an opportunity to learn about a program that began by helping women move out of poverty and has grown exponentially.
  • Chyrstia Chomiak, Program Manager for Women Building Futures, will be our guest. She will introduce Edmonton’s unique program that trains women in the construction trades and provides them with a circle of support, including on-site affordable housing. The program now graduates 400 women per year.
